Wedding
Renting a castle for a wedding means first choosing between two options: a reception hall that you must leave by midnight, or an exclusively rented estate where the celebration continues through Sunday brunch. Your Château de Famille offers only the latter. Our twenty-eight inhabited castles, estates, and manor houses are available for exclusive rental from Friday through Sunday or Monday: the ballrooms for dinner, the grounds for the ceremony, and, most importantly, accommodations for your loved ones in the castle’s guest rooms. No other events are held there on the same day. Accommodations for 12 to 50 guests on-site, with space for 30 to 250 guests at receptions, across ten regions of France.
The difference can be summed up in one sentence: at our venue, your guests sleep right where they danced. A wedding venue with accommodations brings together the reception hall, the guest rooms, and the next morning’s breakfast all under one roof—close family at the château, friends in the guest houses in the park, or at bed-and-breakfasts just ten minutes away, a list of which the owners provide. The Château de Carqueiranne accommodates 50 people; the Château de Collias, 28 in 14 rooms; Longpré, 20; and Amore, 21 in ten renovated rooms. These are places to live, not rooms rented by the hour: you arrive on Friday to settle in, have dinner with your family the night before, and enjoy brunch on Sunday.
Each château can be exclusively reserved in its entirety: the bedrooms, the living rooms, the catering kitchen, the grounds, and the pool, if available. One family, one wedding. This exclusivity changes the flow of the day: a non-religious ceremony under the trees, cocktails on the terrace, dinner in the orangery or the grand hall, and music until whatever time the venue allows, with no neighboring events or time constraints imposed by a subsequent event. Capacities vary from one estate to another—80 guests at La Ferme de Mahomet, 120 at Riveneuve and La Douve d’Armaillé, 150 at Longpré, Amore, Briat, and Pitray, 180 at Carqueiranne, 200 at Collias, and 250 at Les Bloys—and each listing specifies its capacity for both seated and cocktail-style events.
The rental covers the entire estate for two or three nights: rooms made up upon arrival, linens provided, water, electricity, heating, grounds maintenance, end-of-stay cleaning, and access to the catering kitchen. You are responsible for the caterer (which you are free to choose), reception furnishings when not provided, and a security deposit of €3,000 to €5,000. For a wedding, expect to pay between €4,000 and €13,500 for exclusive use of the property for two to three nights, including a reception, depending on the château, the season, and the capacity—which, for 120 guests, is roughly the same price as a reception hall alone, plus accommodations. Rates are listed on each property page, with no commission added.
The Southwest is our most extensive region, with eleven estates between Toulouse, Carcassonne, and the Périgord; followed by châteaux within two hours of Paris, the Auvergne and Allier regions, the West between Angers and the Vendée, the Gard and the Var coast, the vineyards of Saint-Émilion and Armagnac, Normandy, Burgundy, and Touraine. For a unique wedding at a château, consider a Cathar fortress, a wine estate, or a seaside estate; for an all-inclusive wedding, check the listings that offer a maître d’hôtel, breakfast, and optional shuttle service. In any case, an advisor will suggest three castles available on your dates.
An exclusive-use wedding castle is an entire estate reserved solely for your event, with no other weddings taking place on the same day. Your guests are accommodated on-site—with sleeping arrangements for 12 to 50 guests, depending on the castle—and the reception can accommodate up to 250 people in the ballrooms or in the grounds.
