Located in southwest France, 15 minutes from Mirepoix and 45 minutes from Toulouse and Carcassonne, La Commanderie, rich in 8 centuries of history, offers a fairytale setting. The château is equally suited to hosting weddings and private or corporate events, as well as stays and weekends with family or friends, in a timeless atmosphere.

 

The property can accommodate up to 29 guests overnight. For receptions, the interior spaces can host up to 130 guests, and capacity can be extended to 250 guests with the installation of a marquee in the park. From the moment you pass through the entrance gates, Château de La Commanderie becomes your home for the duration of your stay. The owner, Rebecca, hands you the keys and you become the lord of the château, free to enjoy the entire estate in complete privacy. This feeling of total exclusivity immediately sets the tone for a timeless stay in a place shaped by centuries of history.

 

Set in the heart of a vast wooded park, the château reveals its medieval fortress architecture within a setting that is both majestic and peaceful. The tall trees provide welcome natural shade on sunny days, while the swimming pool becomes a favored gathering place for relaxation and shared moments.

 

For a wedding, the estate lends itself perfectly to every stage of the celebration. The welcome drink can be held in the park, the banquet takes place in the spectacular Salle des Chevaliers, and the following day’s brunch is enjoyed beside the pool. Each moment unfolds within an elegant and authentic setting that leaves a lasting impression on guests.

 

During a stay with family or friends, the park becomes a true living space. Children enjoy the wide open outdoor areas while adults savor the calm, the cool shade and the unique atmosphere of this former Cathar commandery. Principal living and reception rooms

For the organization of receptions or weddings, Château La Commanderie can accommodate up to 130 guests indoors. Reception furniture is provided, as in all Votre Château de Famille properties, making event planning easier.

 

Several reception areas are available:

 

  • On the ground floor, a series of interconnected salons totaling around 100 m² welcome cocktail receptions and convivial gatherings. Opening onto the terrace and the shaded park, they create a natural continuity with the outdoor spaces and the swimming pool, ideal for events during the warmer months.

 

  • On the upper floor, a banquet area of approximately 140 m² allows for seated dinners and evening celebrations. It includes the Salle des Chevaliers of 86 m², the Billiard Room of 45 m² and the Dining Room, offering multiple layout options depending on the nature of your event.

 

  • Outdoors, it is possible to install a marquee of up to 300 m² on the south facing lawn of the château. A preferential rate is available through a partner tent supplier, allowing you to welcome up to 250 guests in an exceptional setting.

19 guests can be accommodated in the 10 double bedrooms of the château, all decorated with great refinement by the owner, who is an artist. Each room invites you to travel through time, from the 17th century to the 1940s.

Guest house

Located in the heart of the château park, the cottage is a charming 18th century stone house, ideal for accommodating additional guests in an independent and comfortable setting. Bright and welcoming, it offers a cozy atmosphere perfectly suited to stays with family or friends.

 

The cottage features a living room, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen, allowing complete independence while remaining in close proximity to the château. It can accommodate up to 8 guests in total.

Our Rates

The property is rented exclusively in its entirety to a single family or group, ensuring complete privacy. You enjoy full use of the estate, including the château with bedrooms accommodating up to 21 guests, the reception rooms, the park, the swimming pool, as well as the cottage, which can accommodate 8 additional guests.

 

The rental price is inclusive of all taxes and includes heating, water, electricity, garden maintenance, and end of stay cleaning of the château. Bed linen and towels are provided, and the beds are made for your arrival. Reception tables and chairs are also provided.
The only additional charge is the local tourist tax, payable on site.

 

A security deposit is required, set at 3,000 euros for the château and 1,000 euros for the cottage.

 

For receptions, a personalized quotation will be provided on request. You also have the option to rent an outdoor tent through a partner supplier.

History ofChâteau La Commanderie

Château La Commanderie is built in the 12th century at the initiative of the Cathar lord Guillaume de Plaigne, who takes part in the massacre of Avignonet before withdrawing to Montségur with the besieged. This Cathar origin leaves a lasting mark on the identity of the site.

 

In the 16th century, Barthélemy de Plaigne decides to enlarge the château and has the Salle des Chevaliers constructed, giving the residence a new scale. The château is later sold to François Paul de Béon Massé Cazeaux, Grand Prior of the Order of Malta in Toulouse, who in 1685 raises the seigneury to the rank of a Commandery of the Order of Saint John. Until the French Revolution, La Commanderie remains the property of the Order of Malta.

 

In the 19th century, the estate belongs to Monsieur de Nicol, who undertakes the modernization of the building and its grounds. The château then remains within the same family for nearly 100 years, the last descendant being Violette de Ferluc. In 1973, La Commanderie is acquired by the family of the current owners, who continue to preserve and enhance this place shaped by 8 centuries of history.
