The Château de Feuguerolles in Hellenvilliers is a 15th-century manor house built by Richard de Hellenvilliers, squire and lord of Feuguerolles. The castle and its estate were further embellished through the end of the 18th century by his successors, who were of Italian and Spanish descent.

Set in lush greenery, in the heart of a large park adjacent to Saint-Amand Church, where apple trees, cherry trees, walnut trees, and tall conifers, the château—available for rent as a whole—can accommodate up to 11 people in 3 bedrooms and 1 boudoir, whether for a vacation or a private or professional event. The château will charm you with its spacious living room and majestic fireplace, as well as its tasteful décor, featuring furniture and decorative objects in a contemporary and refined style.

The ground floor of the castle features a very large dining room and a spacious living room. It can easily accommodate up to 35 seated guests for a private reception and up to 50 guests for a cocktail reception or buffet. The castle’s three bedrooms can accommodate 8 people. Three additional people can sleep in a converted boudoir.

The village’s name has a very poetic meaning, as “Feuguerolles” refers to a place where ferns grow: the proximity of the beautiful surrounding forests indeed gives this town a very special charm and will make your vacation here an unforgettable experience.

Various Gallo-Roman artifacts (medals, statuettes, battle axes, etc.) have been unearthed in this town despite the devastating fires of 1893 that destroyed part of the village.

You can visit the Saint-Amand Church, located next to the castle grounds and built in the 11th century, with your family or friends. Renovated in the 16th century, it has retained all the charm of old village churches.

How about a bit of history? Almost everyone knows Henry IV’s famous phrase, “Rally to my white plume.” At the time, Henry IV was in the midst of a civil war against the Catholic League, which was fighting his rule and refusing to let him enter Paris. He uttered these words in the midst of the Battle of Ivry on March 15, 1590. It was a decisive battle for him, for although outnumbered, Henry IV and his army completely routed the Protestant forces.

But few people know that a few days before that battle, Henry spent the night here, at the Château de Feuguerolles de Hellenvilliers, less than thirty kilometers from Ivry-la-Bataille. Henry IV was, in fact, hosted at the castle by one of his descendants—likely Gabriel de Hellenvilliers, Lord of Villiers, Baron of Chambray and La Ferté-Fresnel, who is listed in the National Library of France (BNF) archives as a Knight of the King’s Order, a gentleman of his chamber, and captain of 50 men-at-arms.
