The chateau is utterly comfortable, not at all pretentious, a true maison de famille.
The owners are most welcoming and charming and Monsieur Cardon is an excellent chef!
We will be returning next summer!
Tout était parfait et nos hôtes adorables
Je suggère néanmoins des serviettes de plage à la piscine et des parasols à la piscine et à l extérieur pour les déjeuner sur l herbe
Merci à le et Mme Cardon pour leur accueil

The History of the Castle
In the peaceful countryside of Seine-Maritime, near Gisors, the Château du Landel has a rich and fascinating history. In the past, this estate served as a waystation for pilgrims traveling along the Camino de Santiago. Imbued with an atmosphere of serenity, this place was conducive to contemplation and rest, making the château a sanctuary of peace.
The castle subsequently became the property of master glassmakers until 1870. Over the past centuries, the Lyons Forest, located in the southeastern part of the Seine-Maritime department, and its remarkable beech grove played a vital role in the development of industrial activities that used wood as a raw material. This flourishing period left an indelible mark on the castle’s history.
Today, the refined décor of the Château du Landel pays homage to its rich past. Delicately crafted glass objects, period mirrors, and portraits of former owners adorn the walls, bearing witness to the Château du Landel’s prestigious heritage. Over the years, your hosts have worked passionately to restore and renovate the château and its 17 guest rooms, thereby preserving this precious heritage for future generations.
