The Château de Briat is located in the heart of the Armagnac vineyards, in Gascony, 1 hour and 30 minutes from Bordeaux.

This charming manor house, built by the mother of King Henry IV, is surrounded by a 60-hectare estate featuring vineyards and woodlands. The Briat estate still produces Armagnac according to its owners’ time-honored tradition, a process you can discover during a private tour of the cellar. Briat offers you more than just a stay—it offers a unique experience through time—and for your relaxation: a large swimming pool and a tennis court.

The castle can comfortably accommodate 17 people in the castle and its guest house. The renovated barn can accommodate weddings for up to 150 guests. Briat is an exceptional place to spend a family vacation in summer or winter, gather with friends for a weekend, or host a wedding or a large family celebration.

The Château de Briat estate stretches across a remarkable 60-hectare park, featuring a mix of vineyards, woods, and sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.

This harmonious complex brings together several distinctive buildings arranged around the château, whose origins date back to the 16th century, complemented by 18th-century additions. Nearby, a 260-square-meter barn offers a superb space for receptions, perfectly integrated into the estate’s historic setting. A small guesthouse, ideal for a couple, rounds out the accommodations, while the wine cellar, built in 1724, bears witness to the site’s winemaking history and still houses the Armagnac production facility.

To the south of the property, the 20-meter-by-8-meter swimming pool blends elegantly into the landscape. On a clear day, the view extends all the way to the Pyrenees, which are visible on the horizon. The estate also features a tennis court in excellent condition, a vegetable and fruit garden, and a chicken coop housing a dozen hens, all of which contribute to the lively and authentic atmosphere of the place. Finally, the caretaker’s house, located on the property, ensures a discreet yet attentive presence to support your stay and ensure the estate runs smoothly.

The dining room, dating from 1540 and featuring panoramic landscapes painted on its walls, transports you to another era—that of medieval festivals. Comfortable armchairs in front of the fireplace invite you to relax. A functional and charming kitchen opens onto this spacious living area. Head up one floor and you’ll find yourself in a different atmosphere—the library, which opens onto the Henri IV bedroom.
On the ground floor, in the 18th-century wing, another parlor welcomes you with a more intimate atmosphere.
If you’re planning a large family reunion, a birthday party, a gathering of cousins, or a wedding, you’ll have access to a large reception hall in the renovated 260 m² barn, complete with a bar, a fireplace, a sound mixing console, and a video projector.
The Briat estate features several spaces that are perfect for both intimate gatherings and festive celebrations with large groups.

The château has 6 bedrooms that can accommodate 14 people and 8 bathrooms. The guest house near the wine cellar can accommodate 3 additional people. This means you can accommodate a total of 17 people on the estate.
On the ground floor, there are two double bedrooms: the Blue Room and the Red Room. On the first floor, four bedrooms can accommodate 10 people. A large room known as the Henri IV Room is located behind the library, in the oldest part of the estate, built by Jeanne d’Albret. The other three bedrooms on this floor are in the 18th-century wing.
The entire property has been exquisitely decorated by Stéphane de Luze and his wife, a fashion designer. Everywhere you look, it’s a delight!

An apartment has been renovated just a few meters from the manor house in the outbuildings, near the wine cellar. It offers private accommodations for a couple and one additional guest on a sofa bed, who will have their own living room, small kitchen, and bathroom.

The Château de Briat was built in 1540 by Jeanne d’Albret, mother of the future King Henry IV. In 1587, the king gave it as a gift to Arnaud de Matines, who had saved his life at the Battle of Coutras. The château subsequently passed through the hands of various families before becoming the property of Baron Raoul de Pichon-Longueville in 1864. Already the owner of the renowned wine estate bearing his name in the Médoc region of Pauillac, he succeeded in enriching the traditional craftsmanship of Armagnac.
Since 1864, Briat has remained in the Pichon-Longueville family. Stéphane de Luze, the current owner and a descendant of the Pichon-Longueville family, carries on the family tradition of Armagnac production that has been passed down through five generations at Briat. In 2012, together with his wife—a fashion and fabric designer—he redecorated the château, carried out renovations to add bathrooms to each bedroom, and remodeled the kitchen. He renovated the barn to turn it into a beautiful reception hall and tastefully furnished a small guest house.

The chateau de Briat in Mauvezin d’Armagnac in the Landes in Nouvelle Aquitaine, is in the heart of Gascony, bordering the Gers. Located in the center of a triangle Bordeaux – Biarritz – Toulouse, Briat is only 40 km from Mont de Marsan, a beautiful medieval city, 40 km from Condom in the Gers, and 90 km from Pau.
The village of Mauvezin d’Armagnac is a beautiful bastide founded by the King of England. It has some very beautiful medieval half-timbered houses decorated with brickwork. A cloak and dagger movie setting!
8 minutes from Briat by car, or 30 minutes by bike on the Voie Verte through the forest, discover Labastide d’Armagnac. This small bastide, founded in the 13th century, is a model of its kind, with its central square, which, it is said, inspired the Place des Vosges in Paris, its half-timbered houses, columns and arcades, and its church-fortress which crowns the whole.
10 minutes from Briat, you can access the spa of Barbotan, specialized in phlebology and rheumatology.
A little further on, discover the Roman Villa of Séviac, which is a perfect example of the Gallo-Roman architecture of the residences of notables of the IVth century. Famous for its 625 m2 of mosaics, the largest set in France, or its 500 m2 thermal baths which testify to the refinement of the daily life of the Gallo-Roman elites.
In the surroundings, the circular village of Fourcès has been classified as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages of France”. You can meet there in the shade of the plane trees to have a party, play petanque, attend concerts, or go bargain hunting…
