Ch\u00e2teau des Bloys is one of the oldest wine estates in the M\u00e9doc. Its first known owner was Nicolas de Bloys, a spirited squire and husband of Jeanne Fleix, who planted the estate\u2019s first vines in the 16th century. Originally a barony, the estate\u2019s history has been intertwined with the nobility and viticulture from its very beginnings. <\/div>\n

In the 18th century, the ch\u00e2teau was purchased by Joseph-Ignace de Chatard, a counselor to the Parliament of Bordeaux, who sold it in 1746 to his nephew Jean-Louis Baour, the future mayor of Pian-M\u00e9doc, who undertook the construction of new buildings. It was during this period that the estate took on the elegant silhouette we know today. <\/div>\n
In 1874, the property was described in \u00c9douard F\u00e9ret\u2019s *Statistique g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de la Gironde*<\/i> as \u201cformerly the seat of a barony, surrounded by a 160-hectare estate featuring a wide variety of terrain.\u201d By the mid-19th century, the vineyard was already producing the equivalent of 100,000 bottles per year. In 1860, the Count of Guign\u00e9 acquired the estate, and his family remained its owners for 139 years. <\/div>\n

It was not until Charles de Guign\u00e9 arrived in 1974 that the vineyard truly came back to life: he rebuilt it in the purest M\u00e9doc tradition. In 1999, the ch\u00e2teau was acquired by Lorraine Cordier, who also owns Ch\u00e2teau Talbot, a Saint-Julien Grand Cru Class\u00e9. <\/div>\n

Since 2011, the fifth generation of the Bignon-Cordier family has been breathing new life into the estate by developing wine tourism and hosting private stays.
