Loustaou housed entire generations of explorers and sailors. Under the Second Empire Napoleon III’s court held many receptions here whilst staying in neighbouring Biarritz
The village of Carresse had a very rich history linked to the presence of a large prestigious family of Spanish grandee from 1812 to 1933. “We cultivated spanish manners, the legendary courtesy of the Spanish grandee. We spoke Spanish; fashion, servants, customs were Spanish. ”
During World War II Loustaou owners tried to protect the castle against the Germans, but unfortunately the terrace and the living room floor were destroyed by the passage of cavalry.
Loustaou was home to the grandmother of Bénédicte Cheyron Monroe who is the present owner. She lives in Cambodia and in the United States with her family, but she wanted to fully restore her grandmother’s house. She’s happy for you to create special memories and great moments with your family and friends.
