A few kilometers from Ambrus, discover the city of Agen, the hills of Gascogne, the bastides of Lot and Garonne. All the architectural, cultural and gastronomic richness of Aquitaine is at your doorstep.
The Lot et Garonne is halfway between the two largest cities in south-west of France, Bordeaux and Toulouse. It is a step between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, a generous, sunny and welcoming land, with organic farming, a land covered with orchards, producing the famous pruneaux d’Agen, vines (the wines of Buzet), tomato crops (tomates de Marmande), melons, strawberries ...
River tourism is well developed with its 200 km of waterways. The greenway of the Canal de Garonne borrows the dam and the old towpath of the canal, 87 km of a 100% natural trail, far from any motorized traffic.
It is also the richest department of Aquitaine in bastides. These medieval villages were founded by the French and the English in a period when the Agenais was a land caught in struggle between the two groups. Some of them have preserved some beautiful vestiges. In particular are the beautiful walls of Vianne and the majestic doors of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. You will be immersed in the intimacy of small squares framed with cutlery in Monflanquin, Castillonnès or Lamontjoie. You will find the atmosphere of the markets of the Middle Ages under the magnificent hall of Villeréal. Finally you will discover old half-timbered houses in Sérignac, Caudecoste, Granges, Laparade, Francescas. Do not forget to visit the wonderful castle of Duras!
