The Château des Louteaux, to be rented in its entirety, bears witness to the beauty of the architecture of the canton of Chevagnes. As you enter the semi-circular courtyard, you will have the impression that the castle envelops you within its warm walls. Inside, the arrangement of the rooms that flow onto one and other, the beautiful fireplaces and the personal decor will make you feel at home. The main building of this “gentilhommière” has two floors with 7 windows with a view on the semi-circular entrance court set between two octagonal pavilions, each of them caped with an imperial dome. The building is in the pure tradition of Sologne, using a setting of polychrome bricks drawing red and black diamonds on the facades.
The park of the chateau is 25 Ha wide, a space big enough to offer many entertainments for young and old: you may go and see the llamas; but if you prefer to organize a hunting party in the surrounding hunts, it’s possible !

Principal living and reception rooms
The building is arranged around a central portion, an east wing and a west wing (octagonal pavilions). The principal public rooms are located on the ground floor: the jewel of the castle is the round lounge with a panoramic view on the park and a piano. There are two dining rooms, a library with fireplace and a pool table located in a games room. The particularly large and convivial kitchen area has a wood burning fireplace.

Our bedrooms
Château les Louteaux is like a big family house, wide and comfortable. You can accommodate 26 people in the 13 bedrooms of the castle. On the ground floor, in the East wing, are two parental suites with a boudoir lounge. One of the boudoir lounge, adjacent to its parental suite, may be used as a bedroom for children. On the first floor, there are 10 bedrooms and a small lounge.

The swimming pool is a relaxing space much appreciated by young and old, a place of conviviality for all ages. Have a game of waterpolo with your children, have an aperitif by the pool, eat a good meal in the summer dining room, relax in the deep sofas… The owners of the Château des Louteaux have beautifully renovated an old house near the pool into a charming and functional pool house. It is equipped with a full kitchen, a spacious dining room, a beautiful and comfortable living room and a mosaic shower room. There are no bedrooms.

Our Rates
The property is rented out in its entirety to a group, or family, who will have access to the château with its bedroom and reception rooms and the park.
The rental includes the bedrooms and the château’s reception rooms. All these charges are included in the price: water, electricity, heating, maintenance of the garden and swimming pool as well as the housekeeping and Wifi. Bed linen and towels are provided.. The beds are made upon arrival. You may be asked for a 500€ extra (for a week-end) and 700€ extra (for one week) if you wish to turn on the heating outside of its normal operating period. Damage deposit: 1 500 euros

History
North of Chézy, the Louteaux is a manor house with a hemicycle courtyard enclosed by two octagonal pavilions of two-colored bricks and imperial roofs, dating from the mid-sixteenth century. It was built at the instigation of François the Tailor, lord of the neighboring lands.
François Tailleur, squire and lord of Thonin and Champagnat, took the title of lord of the Louteaux and decided, in 1663, to build in order to live there, a construction in the bourgeois style. Over the centuries, the château has often changed hands. It belonged to Sebastien Alarose de la Bresne, former treasurer of France and first public prosecutor of the commune; he was guillotined the very day of Robespierre’s fall, on the 9th of Thermidor, year II, following the affair of Chevagnes, which had forced the mayors of the canton to refuse a requisition of grain. One can also remember the birth in this place, on July 30, 1813, of Jean Nicolas Henry de Chacaton, talented painter of his time.
Moulins has many buildings built of brick. This material is preponderant in the 17th and 18th century. It becomes a decoration, its color varies from pink to black depending on the nature of the clay and the duration of cooking.
Louteaux is close to the town of Moulins whose history is closely linked to the one of the Dukes of Bourbon, since it becomes the capital of the Duchy in 1327. This lasted until 1523 with the defection of the Bourbon Connetable. You can feel the history of the place when the first “Bourbons” used to live there. It used to be a royal city and its architecture is based on measurement and harmony. During the “Belle Epoque”, the city of Moulins with its refined cafes and hippodrome saw Gabrielle Chanel became the famous Coco Chanel.

- The large round living room (30m2), in enfilade of the living room library with panoramic view on the park. High ceiling, the floor is covered with a circular black and white marble paving made to measure. Open on 3 sides by very large windows and directly overlooking the lawns of the park, this lounge is particularly bright. It lends itself to any type of reception. This room also has a piano.
- The multimedia room (20m2), to the right of the entrance with television and DVD library
